Please read the following information carefully and comply with the smooth onboarding:

A welcome email will be sent to all candidates admitted to the one-year Preparatory Course 2025 at their registered email address by 23rd July. 2025.
-
Your IITB roll number serves as your primary identification number in the Institute.
Before Coming to the Institute:
-
Visit https://www.cc.iitb.ac.in/page/newentrants to accept the IT Access Policy and activate your IT services login ID. Your login ID is your Roll Number (in lowercase), and your initial password will be shared on your registered email ID.

Log in to the ASC portal https://portal.iitb.ac.in/asc and complete the following tasks without fail.

Fill out the personal information and accept the declarations.

Pay the Semester Mess Advance (SMA).
-
It is mandatory to pay SMA as soon as the roll number is generated. In case of any delay due to unavoidable reasons, please note that the last date for SMA payment is 6th August 2025. A standard late fee per day will be charged if payment is not made by this deadline. Students should inquire about SMA payment with their respective Hostel Managers at the time of room allotment after they arrive on campus.

Students eligible for free messing must pay the SMA and apply for free messing after joining the Institute.

Pre-filled forms are available on the ASC Portal. Take a printout, affix photographs, and bring these pre-filled documents with you. You will be signing these documents at the registration desk.

Student and Parent Declaration Form

Hostel Registration Form (to be submitted to the respective Hostel Office before collecting keys).

Medical File Record (to be shown and verified by a Medical Officer of IIT Bombay during document verification). You will be provided a file to keep the Medical Record, which must be brought for any IITB Hospital visit.
Upon Arrival at the Institute:

Show the barcode printed on the Visitor Entry Pass (shared on your registered Email ID) at the Main Gate for entry by you, parents, or guardians to the campus.

Students will be allowed to occupy their respective hostel rooms on 28th July 2025 (Monday) from 9:00 am onwards.

The Orientation and Registration for courses begins on 29th July 2025 (Monday).

ID card generation, original certificate verification, biometric verification, and medical file record will take place on 29th July 2025 (Tuesday). The detailed schedule will be updated shortly.

Username: Your JEE Advanced Roll Number

Password: Your date of birth (in ddmmyyyy format)

During the registration process at the hospital, the completed and downloaded medical record form will be checked by the doctors for the recommended vaccination status at IITB Hospital.
-
Upon verification of this record, the doctor will authenticate the records, and a medical file will be created to be retained by the student. This file is mandatory for all hospital visits to IITB Hospital for the purposes of:
1. Medical consultation
2. Maintaining medical and surgical history
3. For issuing the medical certificate for treatments carried out at the IITB hospital
4. To inquire about any previous drug allergy or other allergies.
5. Reimbursement for medicines or treatments taken at IITB hospital (for medicines not available in the IIT pharmacy) or at referred empanelled hospitals outside.
6. To obtain the patient's previous medical or surgical history in case of an emergency visit to IITB hospital.
Vaccination Information
-
These vaccines are highly recommended as there is a high incidence of these diseases within a closed community, leading to elevated morbidity and a significant loss of working days for students.

Recommended Vaccines
1. MMR (One booster is recommended after age 15)
2. Chicken Pox
3. Typhoid
4. Hepatitis A
For creating a hospital medical folder:
-
The students are requested to have at least one of the above-mentioned vaccines (preferably the M.M.R vaccine) before arriving on campus.

Students who have updated their vaccination records should bring them for verification.
-
At least proof of one of the above vaccines is required for making a Medical folder
-
Those students who don't have a vaccination record/ not taken the above vaccine may be given the vaccine in the IITB hospital on a payment basis.
Checklist of Essential Documents to Bring to Campus:

Visitor pass (on phone or printed).
Following forms duly filled by the student and the parent/ guardians:

Hostel registration form (after SMA payment);

Medical Record Form with immunisation certificates/ records.

Childhood immunisation certificates/records and previous medical records (if any);

Printout of the seat allotment letter issued by JoSAA;

Originals and a photocopy of all documents and certificates as mentioned in the offer letter.

General Guidelines
About Preparatory Course:
-
Preparatory Course is a pre-degree course, and admission to the degree programmes is subject to successful completion of the Preparatory Course
-
Preparatory Course is not a part of any regular degree programme of IIT Bombay
-
The objective is to strengthen students' fundamentals in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English, enabling them to cope more effectively with degree programmes.
-
The opportunity to undertake the Preparatory Course is available ONLY ONCE. You will only be admitted to the respective degree programme (B.Tech./ B.S./ Dual Degree) after successfully completing the one-year Preparatory Course in 2025.
-
You must pursue the degree (after successfully completing the Preparatory Course) at the designated IIT itself.

Each of the courses listed above lasts for 2 semesters - Autumn Semester (July to December) and Spring Semester (January to June). Please refer to the Academic Calendar for detailed information.
