Admission to M.Sc. and M.Sc.+Ph.D. Dual Degree Programmes for the Academic Year 2026–27 - Autumn Semester
IIT Bombay offers a 2 year M.Sc. and dual degree (M.Sc. + Ph.D.) programme at the PG level. M.Sc. and dual degree (M.Sc. + Ph.D.) admissions are based on the JOINT ADMISSION TEST FOR MASTERS (JAM ) score followed by counselling. For details, please refer JAM 2026.
The two-year M.Sc. programme consists of courses in basic sciences. Each M.Sc. programme broadly consists of core and elective courses spread over four semesters often with a research project component. In general, the first two semesters deal with both fundamental and applied aspects of the respective subject and the later semester gives more emphasis on elective courses providing an exposure to advanced knowledge and an opportunity for a career in research and/or industry. During M.Sc Programme , students may convert into Ph.D programme as per eligibility criteria approved by the senate from time to time.
