1. What are the application fees?

Fees must be paid via SBI Internet Banking/Online Payment System. Hard copies are not required. Applications without payment details will be rejected. The fee is non-refundable.
2. My last semester results have yet to be declared. What should I enter for the aggregate percentage?
Select 'Result Awaited' and enter your aggregate percentage up to the current semester. Admission will be provisional, subject to meeting the required percentage after final exams.
3. How can I learn about shortlisting criteria, interview dates, and results?
Check this link for updates. Selected candidates will receive offer letters via email/sms and can check their status online. Unselected candidates will see 'NOT Offered.'
4. What should I do if I make a mistake in the application form?
Click "UnFreeze Application" to make changes before the application deadline. After unfreezing, the application will be in draft status. Ensure you finalize and submit the application, including payment, for processing.
5. I am having trouble submitting my application form. What should I do?
Follow the instructions carefully and ensure documents are correctly uploaded. Use the "REPORT PROBLEM" button on the portal for assistance. If no response within 2 working days, email phd_unit5@iitb.ac.in with your Application ID and issue details. If still unresolved, contact dracad@iitb.ac.in.
6. I am an OBC-NC candidate but do not have the latest OBC-NC certificate. What should I do?
Apply with your old certificate but submit the new one at the time of admission, if selected. Failure to provide the latest certificate will result in the cancellation of your admission offer.
7. I am an EWS candidate but do not have the latest EWS certificate. What should I do?
Submit the latest EWS certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format. Failure to provide the updated certificate will result in the cancellation of your admission offer.
8. I am a PwD candidate and completed all formalities but haven’t received communication. What should I do?
PwD candidates must have at least 40% permanent disability. Selected candidates will receive communication via email/sms and can check their status online. If no PwD candidates are selected, seats will be filled from the birth category quota.
9. What documents should I upload for my application?
Upload any available documents. If selected, submit attested copies of the qualifying degree certificate, provisional degree certificate, and final transcripts/mark sheets by the stated deadline. Failure to do so will cancel your admission.
10. I have a degree from a foreign university. Will it be considered for admission?
Submit an "Equivalence Certificate" from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, and proof of at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD) in the qualifying examination.
11. I applied for the MA+Ph.D. program but was not shortlisted for the written test/interview. What should I do?
Shortlisting depends on various factors, including eligibility and minimum marks. Receiving a call letter does not guarantee admission.
12. What happens if I cannot submit all required documents before paying the admission fee?
Your admission will be canceled if the required documents are not submitted by the deadline.
13. Can admission interview dates be rescheduled?
Admission interview dates cannot be rescheduled. Check the IIT Bombay webpage for updates.
14. I paid the application/admission fee, but the status shows 'Pending.' What should I do?
If the amount has been deducted, wait 2/3 days for reconciliation. Do not make a duplicate payment.
15. I paid the application/admission fee twice. How can I get a refund?
Email phd_unit5@iitb.ac.in with transaction details, your name, and Applicant ID to request a refund of the additional payment.
16. Can I make changes to the application form after the deadline?
No changes can be made after the application deadline. Once submitted, the application is final.
